Hardly, any meal is served without vegetables. Acting as a source of vitamins and roughage, demand for vegetables is practically high. Indigenous vegetables are now gaining their place in the food chain, hence the shift in focus to their production.
At PTC, efforts are being made to produce high quality vegetables for the local market. The focus is on high yielding varieties with high levels of nutritious content. There are also some efforts being made towards the production of indigenous varieties that are highly sought after in the local market. With advances in research being made in this new area, PTC is at the fore front to promote all efforts being made in the production of indigenous vegetables.
